Acne is a common skin disease, characterised by pimples on the face, chest, and back. It occurs when skin pores become clogged with oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria. Acne can lead to permanent scarring, if left untreated. It typically is a mixture of the following: greasy skin, blackheads, whiteheads, red spots and bumps, yellow pus-filled spots, and scars.
Treatment depends upon on the severity of the condition. Topical medications are available in the form of cream, gel, lotion and preparations of varying strengths, depending on the severity of the case. This reduces sebum production and cell stickiness.
Other treatments include:
- Chemical Peels
- Ultraviolet Light
Perscribed medication may also be an option depending on the individual case
