damaged skin

Acne is a common skin disease, characterised by pimples on the face, chest, and back. It occurs when skin pores become clogged with oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria. Acne can lead to permanent scarring, if left untreated. It typically is a mixture of the following: greasy skin, blackheads, whiteheads, red spots and bumps, yellow pus-filled spots, and scars. Our Consultant Dermatologist will assess your skins condition before making detaled recommendations.

Treatment depends upon on the severity of the condition. Topical medications are available in the form of cream, gel, lotion and preparations of varying strengths, depending on the severity of the case. Antibiotics may also be used, and in the case of severe acne, a drug called Accutane may be prescribed. This reduces sebum production and cell stickiness. It is the treatment of choice for severe acne with cysts and nodules, and can be used with or without topical or oral antibiotics.
